Early Morning in Kyoto

A half-day tour that begins with Kyoto's most emblematic sites, before the crowds arrive. Watch the city wake up as you take in some of Japan's best-known places and learn about Japanese culture, religion, and way of life. We start at Fushimi Inari Shrine, Japan's best-known destination, famous for its thousands of orange gates, and the Higashiyama district, the oldest part of Kyoto, where the streets recall the age of the samurai. From there we move on to the Arashiyama district and its extraordinary bamboo grove. The tour shows you the best of traditional, quiet Kyoto.

What you'll experience

Where the tour takes you

These are the stops along the morning. The order shifts as you go, depending on the hour and how busy each place is.

Everything worth knowing before the tour: where it begins, what time, and what's included.

Departure point

The tour begins at your accommodation in Kyoto, the address of which you'll provide when booking. If you're arriving from Osaka or Tokyo, your guide can meet you at Kyoto Station.

Departure time

Usually at 7:00 or 8:00 a.m. If you'd prefer a different time, let us know and we'll fit the start around your schedule.

Duration

Approximately four hours. If you'd like to extend the tour, write to us and we'll arrange it.

Transportation

Nos desplazaremos entre los puntos del recorrido combinando tren y taxi, por la ruta más rápida en cada caso. Estas tarifas de transporte, incluidas las de su guía, no están comprendidas en el precio del tour.

Meals

Your guide will point out places to pick up something to eat or drink along the way. These costs are not included in the tour price.

Return

We return to the starting point at the end of the four hours, or we can drop you wherever you'd like to carry on with your day.

Family friendly

This tour works well with children, though it's worth noting it involves four hours on foot, with stretches of steps. Restrooms and convenience stores are available along the route.

Other expenses

Temple admission is not included. This tour requires a single ticket, for Kiyomizudera, at 400 yen. The bamboo grove and Fushimi Inari are free to enter.
Remember: the tour price covers your entire group, from one to six people. We don't charge per person.

Because this is a private tour, the route adapts to your pace. Here's how a typical morning goes, though your guide adjusts the order depending on how busy each place is.
