Gion is one of Kyoto's five hanamachi, the districts where geisha live and work. Join us at dusk, as the neighborhood begins its working day, for a close look at the city after dark and at the world of the geisha.
You'll walk the loveliest streets of at least two districts while your guide explains what the geisha institution means in Japan today. The old streets and their quiet, private atmosphere give Gion a rare kind of charm, as though the scene were lifted from an old book.
Along the way, with a little luck, you may see a geiko (a Kyoto geisha) or a maiko (an apprentice geisha) on her way to an evening engagement.

- Gion Hanamikoji (Kyoto's most iconic geisha district)
- Gion Shirakawa (one of the loveliest streets in Kyoto)
- Pontocho (Kyoto's most atmospheric dining quarter)
- Miyagawacho (time permitting)
