Explore Japan's kitchen with a local guide

Just 30 minutes from Kyoto by express train, Osaka is one of Japan's largest cities and the lively heart of the Kansai region. Historically the nation's merchant capital, it is famous for its friendly locals, bold street food and the spirit of kuidaore — “eat until you drop”.

On this private Osaka day tour, you choose at least four sights and your guide builds the day around them — from Osaka Castle and panoramic skyscraper views to the neon canals of Dotonbori and the retro streets of Shinsekai.

Why explore Osaka with us?

  • Flexible itinerary built around your interests
  • Food-lover friendly — takoyaki, okonomiyaki, kushikatsu and more
  • Easy day trip from Kyoto, or start from your Osaka hotel
  • Local stories behind the castle, merchants and markets

Suggested sights

Choose at least four — or let us know about other places you would like to see.

  • Osaka Castle — the iconic fortress of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, central to Japan's 16th-century unification
  • Umeda Sky Building — the Floating Garden Observatory, 170 metres above the city
  • Dotonbori & Shinsaibashi — neon signs, canals and Osaka's famous street food
  • Hozenji Yokocho — a lantern-lit alley and temple with a moss-covered statue
  • Shinsekai — a retro district little changed since the post-war years, home to Tsutenkaku Tower
  • Abeno Harukas — one of Japan's tallest skyscrapers at 300 metres
