Discover the best of Tokyo in a day

Tokyo can feel overwhelming — a vast city of historic temples, futuristic skylines and dozens of distinct neighbourhoods, all connected by one of the world's busiest train networks. On this private Tokyo day tour, a local guide turns that complexity into a smooth, unforgettable day.

Your guide plans a balanced itinerary around your interests, blending traditional Japan — temples, shrines and gardens — with the energy of modern Tokyo. You will also learn how to navigate the trains like a local, which makes the rest of your trip much easier.

Why book a private Tokyo tour?

  • Smart routing across Tokyo's huge transport network
  • Ideal for day-trippers arriving by Shinkansen from Kyoto or Osaka
  • Local insight into everyday life in one of the world's largest cities

Departure time

Full-day tours start at 9:00 AM. Half-day tours start at 9:00 AM (morning) or 1:00 PM (afternoon). Need a different start time? Just tell us and we will adjust to your schedule.

Duration

Full day: about 8 hours. Half day: about 4 hours — select the half-day option in the booking form and the lower price is shown automatically.

Transportation

Walking plus public transport (trains and subways), with the occasional taxi to save time. Transport fares are not included in the tour price.

Meals

Your guide will recommend great local restaurants for lunch and spots for snacks along the way (food and drinks are not included). On full-day tours your guide joins you for lunch, and we kindly ask you to cover the guide's meal.

Return

The tour ends back at your starting point at around 5:00 PM (full day) or after about 4 hours (half day). Your guide can also drop you off at a restaurant or shopping area if you prefer.

Family friendly

Yes — children of all ages are welcome. Your guide will adapt the pace, plan rest and restroom stops, and keep the stories fun for younger travellers.

Other expenses

Temple, shrine, garden and attraction admission fees are not included (most are modest, and many of Tokyo's highlights are free to visit).
The price is per private group, not per person — the same rate applies from 1 up to 6 travellers. No payment is needed to send a booking request; we confirm availability first and you can fine-tune the itinerary later. All prices are in Japanese yen.
